HAIR LENGTH: An 1/8 of an inch or the length of a grain of rice. If you shave, 10-12 days, is fine.
EXFOLIATE: Helps remove dead skin cells and loosen ingrown hairs. Use a dry brush or body scrub 3-4 days before your service.
MOISTURIZE: If your skin is dry and dehydrated, it can hold onto the hair and possibly break it. Hair breakage occurs on the surface of the skin rather than removed from the root (just like shaving). Moisturize your skin on a regularly basis BEFORE your appointment. This will soften your skin & hair follicles, making it easier to remove the hair.
SHAVING: Do not use a razor or depilatory creams between services. This will interfere in refining and diminishing your hair growth. It can also encourage ingrown hairs. This makes for a longer appointment, which will hurt more.
CLEAN UP: Make sure you are extra clean, front and back, just before your appointment.
TREATMENTS: Did you have laser hair removal or a peel recently? DO NOT sugar within 2-3 weeks of receiving a peel or laser..
PAIN: Taking a pain reliever 45 min. before your appointment, it can help with pain.
STIMULANTS: DO NOT drink alcohol or caffeine before your appointment. Your pores may tighten, resulting in more pain.
RELAX, BREATHE! If you're anxious and tense, you may experience more pain.
I Just Started My Period, Can I Still Get Sugared?
Yes, although, your sugaring service may be more painful. If you're not shy, I have no problem sugaring you; providing proper hygiene has been followed. If you're booked for a bikini sugar, please use a tampon, or menstrual cup.
Are There Side Effects?
If your skin is sensitive, you may experience redness, irritation, itching, immediately after your sugaring service.
If these side effects occur, try not to itch. This could tear or scar your skin and introduce bacteria to freshly sugared skin.
Everyone is different, some people don't experience a reaction. Some react for 20 minutes, for others, 2 days is normal.
Does Sugaring Hurt?
Yes, as does any form of hair: waxing, laser. Everyone's pain threshold is different.
Consistently sugaring every 4-5 weeks means your hair will grow back thin and sparse. This means less pain.
Hold your skin taut while being sugared, this lesses the pain.
Exfoliate before your appointment.
Don't drink caffeine prior to your appointment.
Schedule your appointment after your period. Your pain threshold is lower during that time.
STOP SHAVING! Shaving can cause ingrown hairs and your service could be more painful and time consuming.
Take a pain reliever to lessen the pain.
How Long Does Sugaring Last?
Your hair growth cycle completes itself in 30 days. It's recommended you sugar every 4-5 weeks.
You may not be 100% smooth the first couple of times you sugar. This is due to the three hair growth cycles. Consistency equals smoother skin.
Minimize Ingrown Hairs
If you suffer from ingrown hairs, dry brushing on a regular basis will help you. Or you can purchase a anti-ingrown hair liquid.
Prevent Irritation After Your Appointment
After sugaring, you may feel tender for a day or so. You can take a pain reliever to reduce swelling.
Avoid activities that could cause sweating, working out, swimming for 24 hours. This can inflame the skin and cause grow bacteria.
If your bikini area was sugared, avoid sexual activity for 24 hours. This will prevent irritation.
Newly sugared skin can be sensitive for up to 48 hours. Your hair follicles are open for up to 24 hours after sugaring!
Avoid direct sunlight and tanning for 24 hours.
DON"T SHAVE! Shaving can cause ingrown hairs, which will make your next appointment more painful and take more time.
